The presenters of this presentation, three women from three very different cultures developed a course between 3 very different colleges of education in Israel joining secular, religious, Arabs Moslem Christians and Jews through synchronous lectures and small group work online between the different cultures. Much of the initial development in online learning has been directed toward the idea of intelligent tutoring. The idea was that the computer would teach and the student would learn. This application of artificial intelligence parallels the development of artificial intelligence in the world of computer science. The 'Learning Design' approach used in learning Management Systems emulates in form and in function Newell and Simon's General Problem Solver and other Expert System approaches to AI.

This workshop is about blogging. Blogging ideas that work. Participants will learn about successful collaborative experiences using blogs as the means to enhance communication and develop students' social,cultural and language skills. The presenters will show practical examples of blogging ideas and strategies in the language classroom and will invite participants to discuss the possibilities to develop effective exchanges that involve dialog-based learning using the blogosphere as the social space for interaction.
