Dafne Gonzalez: Full Professor at Universidad Simon Bolivar, Caracas, Venezuela. She holds a Ph.D in Education, and a MA in Applied Linguistics. She designs and teaches blended and online courses. She coordinates the Graduate Programs in Education at the USB, and, is the coordinator of the TESOL Electronic Village Online.
Teresa Almeida d'Eça has been an EFL teacher for over 30 years. She is currently teaching 6th grade in a public school in the greater Lisbon area, Portugal. She holds an MA in American Studies, is a member of TESOL, APPI (TESOL's Portuguese affiliate) and the Webheads in Action. Professional development through collaboration in wikis
Summary:
Collaboration and interaction are crucial for learning to take place. Wikis are ideal spaces to achieve this interaction and collaboration. In this session, the presenters will describe how they have used wikis for teacher development. Their advantages and drawbacks will be discussed.
The presenters will explain what wikis are, their characteristics, and then show examples of wikis they have used for professional development: online courses and online presentations.
The audience will be able to interact with other participants and with the presenters through chat and voice, while the presentation is taking place.
