The AEIOU of Real-Time Language Learning - Attract, Engage, Involve Online Users

In this session, participants will interact, collaborate and reflect further upon the necessary ingredients for a successful real-time online learning event, thus highlighting the importance of AEIOU (Attract, Engage, Involve Online Users) in synchronous online language learning and teaching.

During this discussion, participants will interact and collaborate throughout the event, culminating in a group learning experience of reflection upon :
- the appropriateness of live online language learning in their own teaching practice,
- some available technology made possible through recent advances in web conferencing technology and Web 2.0 tools,
- examples of technology enhanced language learning combining asynchronous and synchronous tools, and above all
- the required skills and competencies of the language instructor to deliver, facilitate and sustain a collaborative learner-centred experience whilst achieving the specified learning objective.

Moira Hunter, MEd ELT, an experienced and qualified language trainer, online tutor and synchronous instructional designer and facilitator, teaches graduate programmes and coaches corporate employees, both f2f and online.
