I still have a lot to learn about online presentations, but as I got behind the stages to prepare for my presentation yesterday and had a slight idea of how much is involved into hosting any type of online presentation, my hats off to you. Things for you seem so smooth, and I KNOW there are many glitches!
Thanks for encouraging me to take one more step ahead, to have my voice online and maybe reach more educators who are willing to take the plunge, but just don´t know how to start.
My head is still spinning with the thoughts, comments, visuals, voices of the weekend totally connected, but I´ll try to make some sense out of all that and who knows what will happen? BrazilBridges or maybe a bigger connection!
I´m all for theory, and I love to base my practices on some theoretical background, but I´m convinced that, more and more, most of the educators want and need to see practical applications of the web tools into their classrooms. Erika and I have been training teachers for some years now, and what really hooks them is when they see that what we preach is what we are, actually, trying out into our classrooms. They want to see how to use the tools, they want to know what kind of problems they may face, they want to have support (technical and emotional!) to carry out more ambitious practices in the classroom, they need follow up (what if...?). Most of these teachers will never participate in Communities of Practices, online networks, etc...but we believe that, little by little, we can spread out the word about simple things that can change the connections among students and teachers, leading to another dimension in the teaching/learning spectrum...
Well, guys, just some post-session ramblings! And I really wanted to publicly express my admiration for all the effort you put into streaming the event.
Thanks!
Carla
